What is an Indigo?
|
Indigo souls are highly sensitive people who are here to teach the world about a higher level of consciousness. They often have warrior-like personalities and are on a mission to make change - no matter what! They carry a blueprint for a utopian world and when faced with the realities of a challenging environment, they can develop anxiety, depression, extreme sensitivities and anger. Additionally, because of their characteristic defiance, they can be misunderstood and/or diagnosed with ADHD or ADD.
Some experts have believed that Indigos must be under a certain age, but in our experience, we've encountered many Indigos who are adults. There are several explanations for this, but most commonly, this is because Indigo is a state of evolution and as people evolve spiritually, they attain Indigohood. It is true that the majority of Indigos alive today are under the age of 30, with most of those under 20. As more of humankind becomes enlightened, we expect these numbers to shift and be more balanced among the generations.
Indigos have great wisdom and intuition which is their gift to the world. They also have a strong sense of truth and integrity; if a person doesn't stand in integrity, it doesn't matter who they are or what their position is (e.g. a teacher), the Indigo won't give them the time of day let alone respect! Indigos are perceptive and will hold a mirror up to the Truth of what they see. Sometimes this reflection is difficult for their families to see and appreciate, especially if the Indigo's active emotions are not channeled in a healthy fashion.
As for living conditions, Indigos are very sensitive to anything harsh in their environment. This ranges from family/friend relationships to processed foods, sugar, and artificial sweeteners, to chemical detergents and synthetic fibers; any one of their senses can be heightened beyond what most define as "normal". Reactions to these stresses can be physical, mental or emotional. Typically, Indigos do best with alternative forms of therapy such as herbs, homeopathy, energy work, and chiropractic medicine. Although it is sometimes necessary, they generally don't like pharmaceutical drugs.
So you ask, "how do I know if my child is an Indigo?". The easy answer is that if you think they might be, then they probably are. Again, our experience is that many times people can be in the process of attaining Indigohood, which means that they have some of the characteristics, but not all. It doesn't really matter if they neatly fit the label, because the guidelines we recommend for parenting are healthy suggestions regardless of your child's soul origin. As with any advice...take what feels good in your heart and leave the rest!
